Colour Drawing of Prague

I decide years ago that I much preferred drawing in monochrome, balancing the tones and textures while playing with light and shadow, but having been inspired by the architecture of the beautiful city of Prague from a recent visit, I realised that some places need colour. Prague is a very colourful city with painted facades, red roofs, copper green spires and of course, the red trams trundling along cobbled streets.

This latest pencil drawing is a mix of colour pencils with ink pen for clarity. Interestingly, I found that my technique of pencil has changed since I have been primarily using pen and I am much more thoughtful of the strokes and shading. I'm very pleased with the final effect and colour will be used again soon but I am still happier with the monochrome.

The drawing is a mix of various buildings and sights in Prague. It is drawn on Bristol 500 paper and is 21x16 inches in size.
