Fine art print of an original artwork of the ruins of Rome in the Roman Forum. It's not an exact scene from a specific viewpoint but rather an artist's representation of my memory from having visited last year. The columns of the temples of Vespiano and Saturn with the Septimius Severus Arch behind are recognisable as a favourite tourist photo but I've moved some of the Palatine Hill, the columns of the Castor and Pollux Temple and of course, the Colosseum into the background.
While the structures are the main attractions, I was more affected by the broken stone pieces left lying scattered aimlessly around and the large paving stones that have been walked upon for thousands of years, testaments to an ancient past that has long since been abandoned while our modern civilisation towers above, seemingly oblivious to the possibility that the modern concrete and steel could find itself equally forgotten in a couple of millennia.
