What a beautiful city Prague is! This fine art print is based on an original pen and colour pencil drawing inspired by a visit in early autumn, when the air was cool and crisp and the first signs of seasonal colour were beginning to appear in the trees.
I was immediately inspired by Prague's magnificent 18th-century architecture, with its ornate façades and historic streets providing plenty of detail to explore. But there was a problem: my usual preference for monochrome artwork simply wasn't going to do justice to the colours of the city.
So, for this drawing, I stepped away from my normal black-and-white approach and combined pen with colour pencils. The result retains the intricate detail and line work of my pen drawings while bringing out some of the warmth and character that first caught my attention in Prague.
The crisp autumn atmosphere, changing trees and historic architecture come together to capture something of the character of this remarkable Czechia city.
